Exploring the
space law universe

Join Kirsty on a journey through space law:
diving into the fascinating intersection of legal principles, geopolitics, technology, physics and the cosmos.

What’s Coming in 2025

As we gear up for 2025, I’m excited to share what The Space Law Explorer will be diving into.
There’s a lot happening in the space law world, but I’ll be focusing on three big areas:

The International Space Station (ISS)

The ISS has been the hub of international space collaboration for decades, but it’s not going to be around forever. I’ll be looking at its history and the legal and policy questions around what’s next—whether that’s decommissioning, replacements, or new partnerships.

UK Space Policy

I’m based in the UK, and I’ll be keeping an eye on how the UK’s space ambitions are shaping up. From new regulations to big policy shifts, there’s plenty to unpack.

The Artemis Accords

These agreements are shaking things up in the space community, setting the stage for lunar exploration and beyond. I’ll explore how they’re influencing international cooperation and the rules for working in space.

Of course, these topics overlap with so many other things, like sustainability, space debris, and making sure space is accessible to everyone. So, expect plenty of tangents and connections along the way!

My Journey into Space Law

Welcome to my blog! I’m Kirsty and I’m the chief in-house lawyer at a software company. For years I’ve been helping companies of all sizes navigate the legal side of things. I got curious about space and the rules when it comes to exploring the universe, so I decided to dive in.
